RCY staff are all smiles at the 2011 Vancouver Pride Festival, July 31. Outreach at such events is an important part of the RCY's advocacy work with youth. GLBTQ youth are a particularly vulnerable group. The Adolescent Health Survey by McCreary Centre noted worrisome trends in the lives of both rural and urban GLBTQ youth, noting higher rates of suicide, abuse, harassment and discrimination than their heterosexual peers.
