Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives
Jennifer Miller joined the Office of the Representative for Children and Youth in May 2016 as Deputy Chief Investigator. In February 2017, Jennifer moved into the Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives role where she brings 15 years’ experience working with a strategic focus in the B.C. government social sector.
Jennifer began her career as a child protection social worker for the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and, over the years, took on increasing leadership roles in both strategic HR and the deputy minister’s office. In these positions, Jennifer led projects focusing on cross-ministry and government collaboration, as well as process improvements and redesign within MCFD and the Ministry of Finance. Projects included developing learning strategies and evaluating the child welfare training program; acting as corporate lead on the provincial Child and Youth Mental Health re-design; and leading a ministry-wide IT initiative focused on internal and inter-ministry communications. Jennifer has also worked in consultation with Indigenous communities to develop programs and services that are culturally relevant and safe, and that specifically include community perspectives.
Jennifer has a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Social Work, both from the University of Victoria. She and her partner live in Victoria with their three children.
